Students support Animal Cancer Trust

Veterinary nursing students at 缅北禁地 College have handed over a cheque for £550 to the Animal Cancer Trust
The cash was raised at a Continuing Professional Development event held at the college during National Veterinary Nursing Week.
Mark Moran of Pfizer Animal Health led the seminar on canine obesity and the company covered catering costs, such that all door proceeds could be forwarded to the trust, which was the British Veterinary Nursing Association’s chosen charity.
Animal Cancer Trust Chief Executive Karen Pearson visited Harper Adams to receive the cheque in person. She said: “We are delighted with what Harper Adams has raised for us, it is a magnificent total, and hopefully we can work with the University College again in the future.”
The cheque was presented by 21-year-old final year Veterinary Nursing and Practice Management students Jo Bond from Andover, Hampshire; and Beth Heaynes, from Little Sutton, near Ellesmere Port, who both attended the fundraising CPD event.
They said they were glad that the trust was there to support the owners of pets with cancer, as they will be working on the front line, and already know just how hard a cancer diagnosis can impact of pet-loving families.
This was the Harper VN unit's second charity cheque presentation in four months. Students handed over a very welcome Christmas gift of £800 to Dogs Trust Roden after more than 20 of them carried out sponsored dog walks there during VN Week 2008. See
The Animal Cancer Trust is a registered charity committed to funding the fight against cancer in pets.
Its aims are to provide education and information that help owners and veterinary surgeons understand more about cancer and what treatments are possible; to facilitate ethical research and improve our understanding and treatment of cancer, and to work with partners, at home and abroad, to pursue the fight against cancer in our pets
